On Thursday, Amazon announced a new plan regarding the launch of physical retail stores. As of the reports, the retail stores may expect to locate in Ohio and California. It may occupy around 30,000 square feet in size. However, it would be smaller than the typical department store.
On Thursday, Target Corp. and Best Buy Co. stocks fell in early trading.
The Global experts said that Amazon’s latest move will be “experimental at first”. But, the move will impact the traditional department stores.
“PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO GO SHOPPING. A LOT OF OUT EFFORT IS JUST ‘HOW DO WE MAKE THE RETAIL EXPERIENCE A GREAT ONE?'”
Some section of people felt that the launch of physical retail stores in the U.S will extend its reach beyond Amazon Go. On 22nd January 2018, the world’s largest online shopping platform launched Amazon Go in Seattle, Washington, U.S. At that time, it brings a lot of business to Amazon.
However, the spread of the Pandemic forced millions of people to stay indoors over the past year. It benefited the e-commerce giant from a rise in online purchases from shut-in shoppers. On the other hand, traditional retailers also witnessed a rush in online sales.
As of the news, Amazon’s physical departmental stores will be bigger than other stores. Further, it follows Bloomingdale’s construction format.
