Over the past year, start-up firms in India have raised around $24.10 billion. As of the source, the Indian Startups raised investment amounts from various investors. At the same time, around 42 firms reached unicorn status, making them the largest startups in the country.

As of 2021, the country has 70 active startups and reached a valuation of $1 billion. Further, India has placed in the 3rd position behind China and United States. Moreover, the US had 444 startups and added 260 unicorns in 2021. At the same time, it had raised a valuation of $1 billion. On the other hand, China had 301 startups and 146 unicorns in 2021.

As of the case study, Indian tech start-ups reached over 2,250 number in 2021, over 600 more than the previous year.

Furthermore, the 11 companies raised an investment fund of $6 billion through the initial public offering (IPOs). Moreover, data analysts said as other 16 companies may have raised funds through IPOs in 2022.

In the last year, 71% of the startup companies were established in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. During the same period, 29% of firms placed in Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Chandigarh and are named emerging startup hubs.

A source said that the United States placed as the leading source of FDI in start-ups. Moreover, Indian – domiciled investors placed investments in half of the deals. As compared to 2020 results, startups have experienced  2 times increment in cumulative valuations in 2021.

Indian Startups New Prediction for 2025

At the end of 2021, there are 70 unicorns, the sector planned to reach 200 unicorns by 2025. It is predicted that India will have 37,000 tech startups, 180-200 unicorns, and a cumulative valuation of $600-700 billion. The value of Indian startups is currently between $320 and 330 billion USD.
