On Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the eighth celebration of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) in Karnataka’s Mysuru. He said that the ancient Indian practice has become a global festival. The Prime Minister of India said before he took part in the yoga demonstration for 45 minutes, “The acceptance of the spirit of Amrit which gave energy to India’s freedom struggle.”. To that end, 75 iconic locations across the country will be hosting mass yoga demonstrations.”
President Ram Nath Kovind welcomed people during Yoga Day on behalf of the Indian nation. “Yoga is India’s gift to humankind and it is an effective method of healing, balancing mind, body, and soul”.
He participated in a Yoga Day demonstration at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. In addition, he encouraged everyone to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines & experience its benefits.
On this year’s celebration of Yoga Day, the theme is ‘Yoga for Humanity’ and about 25 crores of people worldwide will participate in a variety of events, doing yoga together in a bid to improve health and wellness. As part of the flagship program, a global Yoga Protocol was also organized. It is in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs on the day following the movement of the sun.
